Lititz recCenter Member Updates – April 3, 2020
Together, We Are Better!
Welcome, April! We are hopeful that this new month brings positive progress to gaining better control and predictability to the COVID-19 situation impacting all of us.
We miss our Members! No day is the same at Lititz recCenter or recROC because our Members make our organization, programs, and facilities vibrant! The support of our Members is not overlooked, particularly in this time of crisis. Members are financially invested in our community organization. Members are the why and the how of our mission. Members, we thank you for sticking with us through these unpredictable times. We understand that sacrifice is something many of our Members are experiencing right now. When you choose to maintain your Lititz recCenter or recROC Membership, you are enabling us to return quickly to providing you with the services, programs, facilities, events, and moments you value. Thank you for your continued support!
At Lititz recCenter we are adapting and making decisions on an hourly basis on most days. We understand that many unknowns exist, and we are working on the following key items we know our Members are wondering about:
When will the recCenter (and recROC) re-open?
The extent of our closure time is unknown at this time. At a minimum, our organization will abide by Governor Wolf’s current April 30 extended restrictions, statewide. Please note that this date has and could change.
Will Programs be running in Spring Session II?
At this time, Lititz recCenter is moving forward with planning assuming that Spring Session II programs could begin in May, possibly as a shortened session. Registrations will still be open in April for these programs (April 13 and April 20). Members and nonMembers will be able to register online through Daxko. The possibility to contact directors via email and receive a phone call to confirm registration and take payment is being discussed as a possibility.
What is going to happen with Summer programs?
We do not know. At this point, we are moving forward with the assumption that we will be able to run summer programs and events. Summer seasonal staff are being interviewed and hired. Program info is being submitted for the release of the Summer Program Guide, which will be available week of May 20. Adjustments to summer programming will occur as needed, just as they have for Spring programs. To the extent possible, folks registered in spring programs are being moved to other programs, or are provided a system credit.
Are Membership Fees being charged?
In the month of April, no membership fees are being charged at Lititz recCenter or recROC. EFT’s have been cancelled and other membership adjustments are being made to move payments forward and extend memberships. The Membership team is responding daily to requests from Members.
What is happening at Lititz recCenter while it is closed?
Facilities are currently being maintained in full operation to enable a complete return to service! Our Facility teams are working to complete maintenance projects which cannot easily be completed while Members/Staff are in the building. Thorough cleaning of all common areas is being completed. Additional cleaning and repairs which have been on a “to-do” list are also being completed.
Will the Lititz Springs Pool be open this summer?
We continue to plan for a May 23 opening date for the all-new pool! Construction is benefiting from a mild winter, and has been several weeks ahead of schedule. This provides a grace period of sorts to pick up construction in high-gear as our project team is allowed. Dozens of local businesses are part of this project, and we are eager for them to be able to continue their work. We will assess the need for a delayed season opening much, much closer to the anticipated opening date.
Are staff at Lititz recCenter and recROC still working?
Remote access is a blessing for Directors and key staff who continue to plan, assess, modify, and implement decisions and processes which must continue even when community members cannot access facilities and programs. Our business office must be staffed. Facilities must be monitored, maintained and prepped for seasonal changes. Changes must be made quickly, and communicated. We also have many, many talented and committed staff who are awaiting a call to return to work. We are eager to have our full team back in place soon!
Members & Friends, please continue to be safe, be healthy, and look forward with us to a return to activity in the near future!
Karen Mailen, Executive Director and the Lititz recCenter Management Team
